Wesley League - Funding Carnival 2013

Is that a bird? Is that a plane? NO! It's Wesley Man! 

On the 18th of October, the Interact Club of Wesley Methodist School held our annual funding carnival.
The event was officiated by our school Principal, Madam Chia, followed by our iconic mascot, WESLEY MAN to assist Madam Chia in releasing the Wesley League banner specially designed by our Interactors.

The students were free to run around the whole school compound with various games and challenges prepared for them to face, all to unearth their inner talents to be shaped into SUPERHEROES!

The event ended at around 2p.m and everyone worked together to clean up the school compound. We managed to

A HUGE thank you to everyone who supported our event! It couldn't have been a success without your participation :) We hope all the 'training' wasn't in vain and everyone will emerge as a full-fledged SUPERHERO!

Interact Club 39th Annual Installation

The Interact Club of Wesley Methodist School held it's 39th Annual Installation on the 28th of August with the theme 'Dispatching Dreams'. The event was held in the school Chapel and we were honoured to have a few Rotarians as our guests of honour.

The event was kickstarted off by the junior Interactors holding a purple balloon with a heart on it which was then replaced by a cloud. This was to symbolize the changing of the theme of the year 2012/2013 "Linking Hearts" to the theme of year 2013/2014 "Dispatching Dreams". Then, the 'Negaraku' was sung followed by the Interact Song. After that, Madam Chia, our beloved school principal gave her speech followed by Rotarian PDG Dato' Dr Mustapha Ma. The outgoing president, Int. Ng Wen Yie then gave her speech along with a slideshow presentation. 

After a walk down memory lane, the outgoing Form 5 Interactors are awarded with a certificate of recognition for their hard work throughout the year for the club. There were also specials awards such as 'Best Interactor' and 'Most Caring Interactor' that was awarded to Int. Tan Renee and Int. Lionel Lee respectively. Following the outgoing Interactors were the incoming Interactors who were installed shortly after. 

The incoming and outgoing Board of Directors then had their gift exchanging session. Each of the gift represents the role of which the Director plays in the club. Next up, the incoming President, Int. Lee Ren Ee presented her speech.

The event ended with a short performance by the junior Interactors followed by some light refreshments.

Kid's Carnival 2013 !!

      The time of the year is back!! This year, the form 4 Interactors invited more than 50 energetic and lively kids from Pusat Bantuan Sentul, Praise Emmanuel, and Ti Ratana to participate in our Kid's Carnival. The event started at 8.30a.m after registration where we put them into five different groups : Spongebob, Mickey Mouse, Doraemon, Teletubbies, Winnie The Pooh. 
      We did a simple ice-breaking session and the chicken dance, which the kids loved so much. Next, they were brought to a workshop to uncover their hidden artistic talents followed by station games. After a hectic morning, the kids were served with a lips-smacking lunch and a magic show. The event ended with the prize giving session at 2 p.m. and the children left with smiles carved on their faces :)

We had as much fun as the kids throughout the carnival and a lot of us have formed a bond between us and the kids even though the time spent was short. Seeing the smiles on the kids' faces made all the hard work and effort worth it and we definitely will not forget them :)

We have finally reached the time where we pass on the baton as Board of Directors of the Interact Club of WMS to our successors :)

Famine Camp 2013-Fight Hunger!

FIGHT HUNGER

Fasting from food and drinks excluding plain water for 30 hours sounds like an impossible feat to us food-loving Wesleyans, however that’s exactly what 120 students and 5 teacher advisors did on one weekend and for a totally worthwhile cause too! On the 13^th till 14^th of July, the Interact Club of Wesley Methodist school organized its annual 30-Hour Famine Camp in conjunction with World Vision Malaysia. The theme this year was “Fight Hunger!” and aimed to fend off hunger from the lives of those living in Malaysia. 

Here are some pictures to show what an amazing time the campers (and the form five Interactors as facillitators) had while trying to fight hunger! Enjoy!

           Through this event, the Interact Club managed to raise a staggering amount of 

RM 11000 thanks to generous donations by the campers, out of which a hundred percent will be channeled to World Vision Malaysia to assist those in need, rebuild homes, and construct better conditioned water supply systems. Thanks to this event, many more people will be blessed with clean food and water, as well as safer homes to live in.

A special shout out to our Principal for allowing us to have this camp, the teacher advisors who starved alongside us, the participants who donated generously and agreed to run around on empty stomachs, and especially the form five Interactors as well as the organizing committee!
