Cross Country: Beat the course, Run with a cause

On the 10th of March, the Interact Club of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) held their annual Cross Country with the theme “Beat the course, run with a cause”. This event was held at Lake Gardens from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. The purpose of this event is to raise as much funds as possible and donate it to charitable organisations. Unlike the previous year, this year we added a new activity, which is obstacle course. In this category, the participants will have to pass through a series of obstacle course to reach the finishing line.

At 6.00 a.m. sharp, all of the Interactors gathered at the venue to help set up the venue and also complete all of the last preparations necessary. After all of the students reached the venue, they were required to line up according to their respective classes and attendance was taken by their homeroom teacher. The event started off with the singing of national anthem, school anthem and Interact club song. After the vice principle said the opening prayer, the headmaster, Mr Wong gave his amazing opening speech. Morning exercise was conducted shortly after that.

After that, we flagged off our first batch of participants which is the students who participates in obstacle course, then lower secondary girls, followed by lower secondary boys. Next is upper secondary girls and upper secondary boys. Then the last category to be flagged off is parents and ex-students. This year, there were 26 stations in total and 2 Interactors were located at each station (except for stations with obstacle course). Some of the stations also gave out bottles of water so
that participants will not be dehydrated.

Around 11.00 a.m. all of the participants managed to finish the run. Light refreshments were served at the finishing line such as bananas, biscuits, bread, milk and so on. Then, Rotarian Hardeep Singh gave his speech, followed by prize giving ceremony. Around 11.50 a.m. , our Community Service Director, Kelly Anne gave her speech of gratitude to the participants and all of the Interactors. Around 12.00 all of the students were dismissed. However, Interactors stayed back till 12.30 to clean up the venue.

Thank you to everyone who took part in this event. This event would not be a success without all of your presence. Not only that, Thanks to all of the Interactors who worked so hard on this event so that it would be able to run smoothly.
