Farewell

On the 12th of August, a farewell party was held in KLCC for the Form 5 Interactors. We made a lot of different plans for this farewell and finally we settled on KLCC as the venue. We met some obstacles along the planning of this farewell but managed to tackle them. The following pictures will tell you the story. =)

Everyone gathered in the canteen and we left immediately after everyone was present. We went to KLCC by LRT. Everyone was buzzing as we were waiting for the train to come.

We started off with a game in which all the Form 5s were given some clues to find places and landmarks.

After we gave the Form 5s the last clue, they managed to find the last station. California Pizza Kitchen!! This was where we had our farewell party.

On the table, there were pizzas and photo frames with our Form 4 Interactors' photo. Everyone was busy finding their own seat as all the seats were arranged with names.

After the meal, we went to prepare the two cakes for the President and Vice President. Among the candles, some were magic relighting candles.

Nearing the end of the farewell, everyone raised their glasses for a toast to the President, Catherine, Vice-President, Jonathan, and all the Form 5 Interactors.
Everyone enjoyed the farewell party and it will always be a part of our memories. We had been working together through thick and thin for almost a year and we had learned many important values, given rise to friendships and working together. We promise the Form 5s that we will work hard next year to prove that we all are capable leaders, just like them. =)

Coco Fusion 2009

On the 19th of June, the Interact Club had its first ever Coco Fusion! The event was held to give students a better understanding of what every club and society in Wesley Methodist School does, and thus give them the opportunity to learn new things and find new interests. (:





Each club and society put on interesting displays, such as..

LEO's 'Are You Smarter than a Kindergartener?'

Computer Club's Wii games, which were a hit.

And the Choir and Ensemble, a real crowd-pleaser with several well-known songs that night, such as Mamma Mia and Viva la Vida.

It was evident during the event that everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, whether they were manning their own booths, walking around looking at the various displays, or even just sitting idly with friends and enjoying the evening.

We are proud of the event's success and thank everyone for putting effort into making this event possible. :)

Kids' Carnival 2009

On the 20th of June, the Interact Club had our annual Kids' Carnival. Children from several organisations came for the event and we are happy to report that everyone enjoyed themselves, Interactors included. :)


When the kids arrived, they were brought into the school, where we tried to make them feel as welcome as possible.





For icebreakers we danced the macarena and had several games. Then, the station games began!



The children were divided at random into several animal-themed groups, such as Dog, Snake, Cat, Wolf et cetera. They found each other by making their group animal's sound, such as a bark for Dog, and took part in the station games as their groups.



We went by the point system, and the group with the highest amount of points would be declared the winner at the end of the event.



There was a petting zoo too. :D



After about an hour of running around and having fun, we merged in the canteen for refreshments.

We also had a creative session, during which the children enjoyed doodling and drawing on white caps, which they got to take home. How often are you allowed to graffiti your clothes, right? :)

Sadly, the fun had to end eventually. Prizes were given for Most Creative Child, Best Group and All-round Best Child.

The children were clearly sad to leave as they seemed to have had a great day. Several cried upon departure, and we were sad to say goodbye too. :(

However, we saw the event as a great success and, although things could have been done to improve it, we learned lessons in organising it and had a wonderful experience.

Co-Co Fusion

The Co-co Night / Evening shirts just arrived today! >.< it made me realize how close our event was.

For those of you who do not know, Co-Co Fusion is basically, an event where we bring out the best of all the clubs and societies in our school - an event where they can display the specialties of their clubs for parents and friends alike to see.

As a preview:

-Lidra will be holding an event known as 'Short and Sweet', a collection of self-written, self-directed and self-casted plays spanning about 20 minutes each, in the Chapel.

-PBSM will be doing first-aid demonstrations

-Domestic Science Club will be having cooking demonstrations

-The Choir will be performing, too!

And of course, your faithful Interactors will be at hand, helping their own clubs to make this event a success as well! So please, do come and attend our unique event!

World Environment Day

As all of you know, World Environment Day was held on the 5th of June. The theme this year is Your Planet Needs You! Unite to Combat Climate Change. Here are some Daily do something Tips provided by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in conjunction of WED 2009, for everyone to start saving the world! Play your part by using less and acting more. Try to incorporate all of these tips into your life as a matter of routine. Get involved!

• Plant a tree!
• The easiest way to reduce your carbon footprint is by avoiding driving altogether. Power down and instead try biking, walking, carpooling, public transport or an occasional telecommute.
• Use washable mugs instead of non-biodegradable Styrofoam or plastic cups as an environmentally-friendly alternative.
• Use both sides of a paper.
• Save water. Don’t let the tap run.
• Use towels for drying your face and hands instead of tissues that are used and then thrown away. Hang your towels so that they can be reused.
• Recycle your newspaper after reading them.
• Don’t place lamps or TV sets near your air-conditioning thermostat as it senses heat from these appliances, which can cause the air-conditioner to run longer than necessary.
• When cooking, match the size of the pan to the size of the heating element to lower energy wastage.
• When you are feeling at your laziest, don’t throw clean clothes in the hamper to avoid hanging them up! Wear jeans more than once…
• When you wash, use only eco-friendly products in your home. It’s best for you and the environment! And did we mention plant a tree!
