Convergence (Annual Carnival 2017)

On 10th of November, Interact Club of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) held their annual Carnival themed Convergence. This year's Carnival allowed the students to have a taste of the difference between the Carnival in the older days and the Carnival now. The event kick start with Mr Wong officiating the event.

After the opening ceremony, the students rushed to the registration booth to purchase their coupons. On the other hand, Interactors went to their respective booths such as reverse dunking machine, redemption booth, ring toss, balloon popping and so on to get ready.

Unlike the previous year, the redemption booth this year have prepared some mini games for the students to receive Convergence Dollar to exchange prizes. For example whisper challenge, piñata and so on. Many students were eager to participate in the mini games as they were able to receive more Convergence Dollar to exchange many interesting prizes. The prizes ranged from hampers, soft toys, headphones and so on.

This year, there were many food trucks that sells different types of food for the students to choose from. For example Takoyaki, pasta, rice, shaved ice and so on. It received overwhelming response from the students as their tummies were grumbling after using all their energy on games.

Overall, the students and the Interactors enjoyed themselves during the Carnival. The event ended about 2.15 and the student were send back to their respective classes. The junior Interactors played a huge role as they helped out to clean the venue. This event would not have been a huge success without the help from our amazing teacher advisors who guided us throughout our preparations for Carnival and a huge shoutout to our two amazing Funding Director Int. Kian Jin and Int. Ashley Lim. We would like to thank all the people who supported this event and we hope that you guys will continue to support our future events!!

Senior Interactors Farewell

The Interact Club of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) organized a farewell event on the 25^th of August 2017 (Friday). The theme for this event was Jamais Separe, which means never apart. This is because although we bid farewell to our seniors, we will still stay connected no matter what as we have built up a strong bond throughout our time in Interact Club with our seniors. This event was held at Timbre at The Row. A total of 84 Interactors and 4 teacher advisors attended this event.

This year, the farewell committee was made out of four junior Interactors. The committee consist of Interactor Goh Choi Yin as the organizing chairperson, Interactor Iman as the assistant, Interactor Anderson as the secretary and last but not least Interactor Chong Kai Zhen as the treasurer.

Before the event start, junior Interactors were divided into different group to do preparations for this event. For example, Decoration group, performance group, registration group and so on. Although the time given for preparation was very short, but junior Interactors manage to finish all preparations by the dateline given.

On that day itself, some of the junior Interactors left the school at 10.30 a.m. and take LRT to the venue to do preparations and also decorated the place. After that, at 11.30 a.m. rest of the junior Interactors left the school to help out with the preparation. Then, Senior Interactors left school at 12.30 p.m. After finishing all preparations, all junior Interactors lined up at the entrance to welcome the senior Interactors. After the senior members enter, they each receive a flower bracelet made by junior Interactors.

Next, we started the event with the video presentation prepared by the junior Interactors. The while waiting for the food to be served, we did a little “Talent Show”, where the emcee invited the Interactors to perform their hidden talent. Then, the Interactors started to enjoy the food. The food was so delicious that some Interactors went for second round. Then while everybody is still enjoying their food, the performance team preformed their song. The performance team consist of Kelly Anne Leong, Ashley Chew, Izzad, Mathias, Hannah Teoh and Kai Li.

After that amazing performance, Madam Grace was invited up on stage to present her speech. In her speech, she shared her love for this club and also hopes that we continue to do good things to contribute to this society. Next, Madam Norhayati was invited up on stage too to deliver her speech; it was an amazing and heart-warming speech. Then, Mr Kenneth, Madam Lavanya, Naomi Lim and Hannah delivered their speech respectively.

Last but not least, it is gift exchange time. The junior Interactors presented their gift to the seniors that they are assigned to. Every senior Interactors have a wide smile hung across their face when they received the gift from the juniors. It was a heat-warming scene. After that many interesting games were prepared by the juniors for the seniors to participate in. The games were interesting and fun. However some were terrifying. For example, the “What is in the box?” game. This is a game where the senior Interactors have to close their eyes and try to guess that object inside the box without looking at it.

We had a lot of fun as we get to bond with each other. We sincerely hope that senior Interactors truly enjoy their time in Interact Club.

ILTS 2017

On the 19th of August 2017, the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja organized the annual Interact Leadership Training Seminar in Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International). The purpose of this event was to build leadership in each and every Board of Directors of each interact club from District 3300 to grow up to be better individuals to serve the community and in their own respective schools. The seminar also provides the new Interact leaders with knowledge on how to manage the club and also how to perform well to serve the club with their own respective abilities.


As our school’s Interact Club was hosting the event, the board members of the club came early to school to prepare the Dutton Hall for the event to be carried out. After the preparations, we guided the Interactors to the hall. We also introduced ourselves and mixed around with the other Interactors. They arrived from 8.30 a.m. onwards and the registration began. The Rotarians arrived at 9.15 a.m. and although we started the event later than expected, everything still ran smoothly.

We kick started the day with an ice breaking session organised by the Rotaractors. We had to mingle with different people and find out interesting facts about them. It was a good session to get to know each other and make new acquaintances. After that, we sang the national anthem, 'Negaraku' and the Interact Song. Next, we had our roll call to acknowledge the presence of the Rotarians and Rotaractors as well as the different schools that had attended the event.

After that, Rtn. Sandeep Singh the organizing chairperson addressed the opening of the seminar and we were excited to receive whatever that was in store for us throughout this eveAfter Rtn. Sandeep Singh's address, the President of the Rotary Club, Rtn. Ajmal Khan gave a speech about what was Rotary and Interact all about. He explained further about the good work that we did recently and the positive impact it had to the unfortunate people. In relation to Rtn. Sandeep Singh's earlier address, he stressed that although Interact Club is important, but we always have to put our academic first. He also said that family is also equally important as our studies. Do not neglect our family because of Interact Club.

The first workshop session we had was based on the roles of the positions that we hold in the club. These workshops were coordinated by experienced and trained Rotarians who are currently holding a position in the board of directors of the Rotary Club. The teacher advisors also had a workshop session by the Rotarians on how to advise and control the club. The workshop session we had was really beneficial for us as we realized that each and every position in the club plays an important role and although everyone has their own roles to play, we still have to help each other out as we help complement each other well.

After the session, we then gathered in the canteen again to have our lunch. After that, all the Interactors returned back to Dutton Hall. The event was continued with the presentation of the different roles played in the club and their responsibilities. Each of them did a great job explaining their respective jobs. The Rotarians praised the Interactors again for really using this time to gain information of the roles we had to play for the club. They were very happy with the progress that we made and thanked us all for attending this event. It was a very beneficial event and we were glad that we could all make it. We hope that we will play our roles in the club well and be a role model for the rest of the Interactors in our respective schools.

Interact Club's 43^rd Annual Installation: Ad Infinitum

On the 21^st of July 2017, Interact Club of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) held its 43^rd Annual Installation, themed “Ad Infinitum”. The duration of the installation was from 3.30 to 5.30 p.m. in the Dutton Hall at school. The theme “Ad Infinitum” means to infinity without end. “Ad Infinitum” was chosen as this year’s theme as it represents our dream and target that is yet to be achieve and we should not limit ourselves and work harder to strive for higher achievements. This theme was voted by the club members as it truly reflects the purpose of us joining this club.

Our installation was very blessed by the presence of GOH Youth Service Director Rotarian Taz Kleer and Deputy Youth Service Director Rotarian Sandeep Singh. Besides that, we were also glad to have our Admission and Operation Manager, Madam Evelyn Sim, as well as our school principle and Deputy Principle, Mr Wong Chee Kheon and Madam Pearl Moses and also Vice Principal Mr Amaranathan with us on this very special event. Clubs from various schools also attended this event.

The event was started off by our national anthem, “Negaraku” then followed by the Interact song. After that, we commenced roll call for various guest that were present. Then, an inspiring speech was given by GOH Youth Service Director Rotarian Taz Kleer. Next, Rotarian Taz Kleer also helped to install the Form 4/ Year 10 incoming Interactors and Board of Directors.

After that, Mr Wong Chee Kheon was invited up on stage to present his speech. To keep the audience going, a group of talented Year 10 interactors performed for the audience. The audiences definitely enjoyed the performance and clapped along to that song that was being sung.

After that amazing performance, Deputy Youth Service Director Rotarian Sandeep Singh was invited up on stage to present the certificates to all the outgoing interactors and outgoing Board of Directors. Next, the incoming board of directors lined up to receive their medal from the outgoing Board of Directors. Not only that, Rotarian Sandeep Singh also presented certificates to “the most caring Interactor”, “the most passionate interactor”, “the most responsible Interactor” and “ the most dedicated Interactor” to Alyssa, Jasmine, Zi Teng and Shin Wen respectively.

Then, the outgoing president of Interact Club of 2016/2017, Naomi was invited up on stage to present her inspiring speech. She talked about all the memories of Interact Club and thanked everyone for their endless support and dedication to the club. After Naomi’s speech, a video presentation made by the IT team was shown. The video presentation was truly amazing as it was able to refresh our memories by showing the audiences the photos of the past events.

Next, the incoming president of 2017/2018, Hannah Teoh presented her wonderful speech. In her speech, she hoped that Interact Club is able to strive for higher and better achievements in the future. Mr Wong Chee Kheon was once again invited up on stage to present token of appreciation to both GOH Youth Service Director Rotarian Taz Kleer and Deputy Youth Service Director Rotarian Sandeep Singh. After that, the incoming president of Interact Clun 2017/2018 was invited up on stage to present token of appreciation to all clubs that attended our Installation.

Every single Interactor truly enjoyed this Installation. Although it was exhausting but we still enjoyed this event a lot. May Interact Club keep on strive for higher achievements in the future.

30-Hour Famine

In collaboration with World Vision Malaysia, the Interact Club of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) was given the permission to organise an external 30-Hour Famine on our own. This year's 30-Hour Famine was held from the 8th to the 9th of July with at our own school grounds. The main purpose of 30-Hour Famine is to raise awareness on hunger in other countries. This camp is to let the participants experience hunger that we often take for granted. A donation booklet was handed way before the event to let the participants collect donations, all proceeds with go to World Vision Malaysia.

The event started off at 8.30am with a short opening ceremony where a representative from World Vision Malaysia to present a speech regarding hunger and the need for famine. He openly shared his experience on his mission in Vietnam where he volunteered to help and serve the people there.

At 9.ooam, a short ice breaking session was held in order for the participants to break the ice. ‘Blow wind blow’ was a classic favourite amongst the students and every round, the losers would have to carry out a punishment. After the groups of students and facis were formed, they were given time to come up with a war cry and to present their flag.

After that, ‘Famine Challenge’ was held where the students were required to play games related to famine. At 4.00pm the participants were given a short break to wash up and to rest before the next activity which was going to start at 7pm.

The next activity was the long anticipated “Mystery Night’, the participants were gathered in the hall for a short briefing on the story plot before being allowed to roam the school in order to find clues to solve the mystery of the game. The game ended at 1030 and the participants were allowed to wash up before lights out which was at 12am.

Morning exercise was held at 7am the next morning where the participants had to perform simple warm-ups and exercises. Next on the agenda was the station games which started at 9am and went on until 12pm. The participants were then allowed to pack up their stuff before proceeding to the hall for a movie.

At 2.30, the participants were required to gather at the canteen for the prize giving ceremony where the placing for the groups were announced. A few participants were asked to share their experience that they gained throughout this camp. At 3 pm sharp, the participants were finally allowed to eat and the whole canteen was full with joy as they had successfully completed the 30-Hour Famine Challenge.
