On the 9th of January 2016, the senior (Form 5 and Year 11) Interactors spent a meaningful day at Rumah Charis in OUG. This visit was for our annual Form 5 Community Service Project 2016.
All the senior Interactors gathered in school at 8am and left for Rumah Charis. Our school was kind enough to provide us with transportation to the place. We were also accompanied by our teacher advisors.
At around 8:30am, we finally reached the place. From the outside, it looked like an ordinary terrace unit but the inside was really spacious and accommodated more than 50 people (including children and elderly). However, we focused more on entertaining the kids that day. The caretakers came out to greet us and there were also around 6 dogs in the front yard too! It was very welcoming.
We prepared several activities for the children throughout the afternoon. Firstly, we divided ourselves into different groups and cleaned up different areas of the home while some Interactors kept the children entertained by talking or playing with them. It took us about half an hour before all of us gathered again and proceeded to our next activity -> skit! We performed a sketch that the children could relate to and had a good laugh about it with the kids. Then, the entertainment session which included: finger puppet making, jellyfish making, colouring, charades and bubble prints started. Children could choose what they wanted to do and we would assist/help them make it.
Then, we had lunch with the children and caretakers and some elderly at Rumah Charis. The food group in charge brought some homemade spaghetti bolognese, fried rice, sandwiches and a few buckets of McDonald's chicken McNuggets! Corn soup and orange juice were also prepared. We fed and ate with the children and fulfilled their needs and wants, it was really hard to get them to eat at peace but at last, everyone had a filled tummy and satisfied meal! After lunch, it was time for us to go back so we packed and cleaned up.
It was hard to say goodbye after spending a few hours there because we got so attached to the kids...but at least we went home knowing that we made some children happy by visiting them spending time with them and I think that's the greatest gift we got from that day. It felt good to be able to extend our care and love to the less fortunate and we are glad we were able to. We felt so much pain looking at these kids but they also taught us to be strong and happy as there is more to life than this. We would like to extend our gratitude to the caretakers of Rumah Charis for giving us the opportunity to spend half a day with them, and of course to the kids of Rumah Charis, thank YOU for letting us play and take care of you, it was short but we definitely had fun. :)
Also a big thank you to our community service directors Int. Koay Tze Ni and Int. Alex Leong for organizing this!
Enjoy some pictures taken on that day. Thank you for reading.

Carnival 2015: Retro Reborn
This year, the theme of our carnival was "Retro Reborn", the objective and meaning of this theme was to let students reminisce the games they used to play when they were younger, kind of like to bring back old happy times! On carnival morning, Madam Chia officiated the event and in just a few minutes, the school was bustling. Many students purchased their coupons and went off the play.
Carnival this year took a complete change from previous years. We added some new games such as "Break the Code", "the Mr. Bean Game", "Can Shooting", an ARM WRESTLING booth (for the ones who wanted to show dem biceps!), a face painting booth, the infamous water-questioning game, balloon popping (with water guns), food eating competition and even a movie theater, and a few old movies were chosen to play! Of course, who could forget - foosball and dodgeball tournaments were held as per usual. Even though the Interactors only had about a month to prepare, we managed to pull it off.
In each game station, students were rewarded stamps and by the end of carnival, they could use their stamps to redeem items and goodies at our ticketing counter. Prizes such as preloved (old but in good condition) shirts from past events, cute earphones, cute bottles and other stuff were up for grabs too!
The food this year received good responses from the students too! Hours before carnival actually finished, the food was already sold out (good job Interactors!). Each game station had students come up literally every second, and the Interactors worked non-stop from 8am to 12pm. There was also a song booth whereby students could request or dedicate songs to be played. The Interactors also took time to prepare and made a photo booth based entirely on Mario Kart!
Overall, the Interactors had a busy but fun time facilitating and helping around and we were sure the non-Interactors had their well-needed relaxation after a year long of stuDYING ;) The event then ended with sighs from everyone and the Form 3 Interactors also helped with cleaning up after the event. Anyhow, we want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who participated and helped - be it planning and organizing, contributing ideas, setting up, cleaning up or even taking part - if it weren't for YOU guys, the event would not have been successful! And to our teacher advisors and two amazing Funding Directors Int. Lim Zhe Shean and Int. Kally Tan, THANK YOU! :)

Interact Club's 41st Annual Installation: Chassant Rêves
On the 18th of August 2015 (Tuesday), the Interact Club of WMSKL held it's 41st Annual Installation themed 'Chassant Rêves'. The event was held in the school chapel and we had the honour of having a few Rotarians as our guests-of-honour.
The event started off at 3:40pm. We sang the National Anthem 'Negaraku', followed by the Interact Song. We then had a roll call session acknowledging the guests, various clubs & societies and students from other schools who have joined us. Then, our guest-of-honour, Rotarian Wan Rasul gave his opening speech. Thank you for your constant support toward the Interact Club of WMSKL, sir!
Then, the Installation of the Form 4 Interactors and Incoming Board of Directors begun. Each Interactor was called out to receive their collar pins and name tags for the BODs. After that, we had our beloved principal, Mdm. Chia Loy Tian give her speech. It was refreshing and enlightening to have heard Madam speak. To not bore the audience, a short performance was presented by the Form 4 Interactors. Everyone clapped and sang along, it was a lively performance!
Next, the Presentation of Certificates to the Outgoing Interactors and Outgoing Board of Directors was held. The club acknowledged the efforts of the Form 5 Interactors by presenting them certificates, signaling appreciation. Special awards such as Best Interactor was awarded to Int. Cassandra Chia, Int. Chelsea Chew was given the Most Caring Interactor award, and even Interactors who frequently took their time out to visit the children from Pusat Bantuan Sentul (an ongoing community service project), were rewarded - Int. Tan Zhi Hao, Int. Vignash Selvam, Int. See Jia Min and Int. Lesley-Ann Yong. Then, the Incoming BODs were called again up front to receive the medals handed over by the Outgoing BODs. After that, the Incoming President for 2015/2016, Int. Kok Hanz gave his speech. His words spoke of truth, dedication and determination to run the club, salute, Pres!
Then, there was a short video presentation prepared by the Form 5s - a video compilation of all the events and memories they have been through together. Of course, behind a great club, there has to be an even greater president. We then had our Outgoing President, Int. Nikisya Toh, give her speech. She was so genuine and so bold, thank you for everything Niki!
To appreciate everyone's presence, the presentation of souvenirs was held after that. The guests-of-honour received a self-painted notebook each while handmade dream catchers were given to students and Interactors.
Everyone was then led to the canteen for some light refreshments prepared by the Interactors. Some of us left with heavy hearts, and others with new responsibilities.
