Interact Club 42nd Installation: Sta Astéria

On the 26th of August 2016, the Interact Club of Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) held its 42nd Annual Installation, themed 'Sta Astéria'. The event was held from 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. in the Dutton Hall at school. The theme 'Sta Astéria' was chosen as this fiscal year's theme as it symbolizes our dreams, aspirations and our goals. We should take a step further and aim higher because the sky is not the limit. We have to reach to the stars. The theme was voted by the members of the club as it truly reflects our purpose as Interactors.

Our installation was very blessed with the presence of Past President Rotarian Rainer Jaensch, and Rotarian Advisor for the Interact Club of WMSKL(I), the Vocational Service Director of the Rotary Club of KL diRaja, Rotarian Rajendra. We were also glad to have our Admission and Operations Manager, Madam Evelyn Sim, as well as one of our Vice Principals, Mr Amaranathan with us on this auspicious event. Interactors from other district schools as well as a number of students from Wesley also attended the event.

The event was kicked off with the singing of the national anthem, ‘Negaraku’, which was then followed by the Interact Song. Then, we commenced with roll-call for the various guests. After that, Past President, Rotarian Rainer Jaensch gave his inspiring speech before the installation of the incoming Interactors. After the Form 4/Year 10 installation, a group of talented Interactors from the Performance team presented a song medley which consisted of 'YOUTH' by Troye Sivan and 'Cold Water' by Justin Bieber. Everyone enjoyed the performance and even joined in by clapping and singing along with the performers.

Next up was the presentation of certificates for the outgoing Form 5/Year 11 Interactors, to recognize each and every one of them for all their effort, hard work, and time in the club. There were also a few special awards for outstanding Interactors. This year's 'Most Caring Interactor' award went to Ng Hui Ying. The 'Most Diligent Interactor' award was awarded to Wong Mae Eynn, while the 'Most Dedicated Interactor' award went to Michelle Chang Kar Ye. Last but not least, the award for 'Most Passionate Interactor' was awarded to Wong Chung Han. The incoming and outgoing Board of Directors then had their presentation of medals. The outgoing Board of Directors handed down their medals to their successors to represent the passing down of their posts alongside the responsibilities that follow.

The outgoing President, Int. Kok Hanz then gave his speech. He talked about all the memories of being part of the club and also thanked everyone for their never ending support and dedication to the club. After that, a video presentation prepared by the outgoing Board was shown. The video was a trip down memory lane as it included many photos from previous events that the Interactors of 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 were involved in.

After the video presentation, the incoming President, Int. Naomi Lim, gave her speech. In her speech, she hoped that we would achieve greater heights with teamwork as our combined efforts have no limits. The event ended with the presentation of souvenirs to the respected guests. After the event was concluded, all guests were invited to the canteen to enjoy some light refreshments prepared by the refreshments team.

Everyone had a good time during Installation. We were very tired but we still enjoyed ourselves very much. Viva la Interact!
