Have A Heart,Run The Yard - Cross Country 2012

Lake Gardens...
Saturday...
25th February 2012...

Our Interact Club held its Annual Cross Country once again this year at Lake Gardens. This year's theme was 'Have A Heart, Run The Yard'.

The event was held to raise funds to help the underprivileged, to instill a spirit of charity and compassion among students as well to promote bonding amongst students.  Proceeds and funds were collected and directed entirely to charity. Every student was given a donation card each in order to collect donations. Interactors managed to get various sponsors for the event.

The event officially began at 7.30am with the opening speech by the two emcees, Benjamin Lee and Sara-Ann. Then our principle, Madam Chia Loy Tian gave her speech, followed up by our guest of honour, Mr Khor Hong Yin’s speech. After all the speeches, the students were led into some morning exercises before the run.

All the upper secondary students were brought to the starting point at 8.00am and the guest of honour, Mr Khor Hong Yin flagged them off. This was followed by the flagging off of the lower secondary students, teachers and finally the parents and ex-students.

The  four part dance performance by our very own IUDD 2.0,also known as the International Unit Of Deadly Dancers 2.0. Part 1 of the story tells a tale of two sisters who are parted by death as one of the sisters was killed by a tribe of deadly headhunters.

The sketch about a young man with a mission presented to him by the Samoan King. He is instructed to slay a monster whose head turns into a taro when slain. *dum, dum, dum*

After our amazing actors left the stage, an informational video was played for the audience. In the video, a Samoan Chief is teaching the audience how to start a fire. The audience were then treated to a virtual tour around the captivating island of Samoa.

Form 5 Community Service Project 12'

On the 13th of January, the Interact Club of Wesley Methodist School set out to Sanctuary Care Centre. The objective of this excursion was to help out the centre as well as brighten up the lives of the children there. The trip was also meant to instil a sense of compassion and responsibility among the interactors. The trip was accompanied by our ever-faithful teacher advisors, Madam Norhayati and Madam Norhasliza.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the operator of the centre. We set to work immediately, dividing ourselves into groups and cleaning the centre. Among the things we did was sweep and mop the floors, clean the fans, and set up a toy and book shelf.

The final product. A great suprise for the kids.

All in all, it was a productive day and we are glad that we got to put a smile on the faces of the kids. It was also an oppurtunity for the Form 5 Interactors to bond. A big thank you to all who made this event possible.

PBS Workshop 2011

On the 21st of November, the Interact Club of Wesley Methodist School organised a project in their school, called PBS workshop. At 8am, the interactors arrived at school and began preparing for the day ahead. When we were finished preparing, two of our interactors went to Pusat Bantuan Sentul to fetch the children. At 8.30am, they returned and the children were registered and separated into three groups.

After the registration, the children and the Interactors were gathered at the basketball court for an opening ceremony, conducted by Int. Pravin and Int. Tze Ying.

The first session of the workshop was an educational session. Each group went to a different station and they rotated around the stations so everyone got a chance at everything. The children were very interested in the activities and paid their full attention to what the interactors were instructing. The three subjects taught were Mathematics, Science and History.

After the educational session ended, it was followed by a short break and continued with a personal hygiene session. During the hygiene session, the children learned new things they didn’t know such as the spreading of bacteria and how to wash your hands properly.

The hygiene session was followed by another break and the Interactors prepared for the final session, which was the living skills session. In this session, the children were taught, basic survival skills, such as self-defence, how to cross a road, how to perform CPR, how to pick up an injured person, and how to extinguish.

The last session of the day was the Living Skills session. After that,a light lunch was served.

At the end of the day, all more objectives of the project and more were achieved. The day ended with smiles on both parties and a brighter hope for the children of today.
